Tenuta Tignanello is one of the most renowned estates belonging to the Antinori family. Situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico appellation, between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers, it now extends over 160 hectares of vineyards and is home to the prestigious Vigneto Tignanello and Vigneto Solaia.
Planted on soils rich in schist, limestone and Pliocene marl, the vines benefit from marked temperature amplitudes between day and night, ideal for growing grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Since the 1970s, Tenuta Tignanello has been the cradle of major innovations, such as the use of barrels to age Sangiovese and new viticultural practices (vine pruning, planting density). These improvements have led to the creation of emblematic wines, renowned for their quality and elegance.
Tignanello and Solaia, their two emblematic wines from Domaine, are considered pioneers in the world of "Tuscan Supers". The unique terroir gives them power, as well as unrivalled recognizability.
Tasting notes:
This great Tuscan red wine is made mainly from Sangiovese, with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. It boasts a sumptuous ruby-red color with brilliant reflections, and a relatively complex nose. Notes of small red berries, cherry and blackberry emerge. Subtle spicy notes of tobacco, cocoa and dried flowers complete the bouquet after aeration. On the palate, the wine is round and enveloping, with very supple tannins. The red fruit aromas and spicy notes on the nose unfold with incredible intensity. The finish is fresh and airy.
