It was in 1731 that Michel BOUCHARD founded the House of Bouchard Père et Fils, a very old House of Bourgogne wines whose traditions have been perpetuated over 9 generations and for more than 280 years.
Since 1775, the House of Bouchard has acquired parcel after parcel of Domaine which to this day covers 130 hectares of which only 12 are legally classified as Grands Crus at the very top of the qualitative hierarchy of Bourgognes. This Domaine includes parcels of vines called "climat" with mythical names: Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus, Bonnes-mares, Meursault Perrières...
1820: Bernard BOUCHARD buys the site of the former Château of Beaune, a royal fortress built in the fifteenth century, to store his wines in cellars 10 meters deep, which still houses today a unique collection of about 2000 bottles of the nineteenth century.
Traditions and Modernity could be the motto of this House which invested in 2005 in an efficient working tool, the Saint Vincent vat house in Savigny-lès-Beaune, based 5 meters underground thus allowing the grapes by gravitation to naturally access the 138 maceration vats or the presses. The wines are then aged in wood in a cellar with a capacity of 4000 barrels.

The Meursault Premier Cru "Les Gouttes d'Or" 2018 from Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils is a remarkable expression of this prestigious terroir, renowned for producing wines of great richness and complexity. This climat, one of the oldest and most renowned in Meursault, owes its name to the golden hue the grapes take on at maturity, evoking "drops of gold".
Situated on marl and limestone soils, the "Les Gouttes d'Or" parcel benefits from ideal exposure, which favors optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines, on average 35 years old, draw deeply from this rich soil, giving the wine a distinctive minerality and elegant structure.
The grapes are harvested by hand, enabling a rigorous selection of bunches. After delicate pressing, fermentation takes place in oak barrels, a proportion of which are new, bringing subtle woody nuances without dominating the fruit. Aging on fine lees for several months contributes to the wine's aromatic complexity and unctuous texture.
To the eye, this Meursault has a brilliant pale gold color. The nose is intense and elegant, revealing aromas of ripe fruit such as pear and peach, accompanied by notes of brioche, acacia honey and toasted almonds. On the palate, the attack is full and generous, with a lovely roundness balanced by a mineral freshness. Flavors of white-fleshed fruit mingle harmoniously with hints of fresh butter and vanilla, offering remarkable length on the palate.
This wine goes perfectly with refined dishes such as bouchées à la reine, veal in white sauce or noble fish such as pike. Pressed cooked cheeses, such as mature Comté, will also sublimate its complex aromas.
