Louis Roederer
The House Louis Roederer is one of the names that comes up when we talk about the great houses of Champagne, being still one of the Rares to remain family owned for more than two centuries now.
Reigning over a vineyard of 240 hectares classified on sumptuous terroirs in Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, the House Louis Roederer has never ceased to offer generous Champagnes that embellish all occasions.
The House of Roederer: a family heritage
It was in 1833 that Louis Roederer inherited his uncle's house: the house of Champagne Dubois Père et Fils in Reims, which he had founded in 1776. From then on, he chose to take the habits and customs of the region in hand and showed great concern for controlling all the stages of production of his Champagne. At the time, marketing was the business of the wine merchants, while the vineyard belonged entirely to the winegrowers. Description Louis Roederer Cristal Vinothèque 1997 Magnum.
Cristal is the emblematic cuvée of the house Louis Roederer, made from the finest selections of grapes from 7 Grands Crus of Domaine.
As for the Cristal Vinothèque cuvée, it represents the ultimate Cristal experience, with only a few bottles kept for 20 years in the cellars. This Champagne was aged on laths for 11 years, then on points for 5 years, before benefiting from a 4-year rest after disgorgement. Its blend differs slightly, with 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay, sourced from the vineyards of Aÿ, Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
The bottle is a replica of the old crystal flask reserved for Tsar Alexander II in 1876.
The color is a sparkling golden-orange with golden highlights. As soon as you discover its bouquet, you're struck by its purity and precision, then seduced by the intensity of its aromas of white flowers, almonds, honey and nougat. On the palate, there are warm notes of tarte Tatin and macaroon. On the finish, we perceive fresher nuances of citron and citrus fruit, without excessive acidity, as well as hints of iodine and limestone.
Accompanied by ballotines of poultry with chanterelles for a Land association, or gambas flambées for a Sea association, the Cristal Vinothèque 1997 will delight you with these two pairings.
