Lanson

House Lanson was founded in Reims in 1760 by François Delamotte, an alderman and merchant in Reims. It is one of the oldest houses in Champagne.

In 1798, Nicolas-Louis Delamotte, Chevalier de l'Ordre de Malte, succeeded his father and took the Maltese Cross as his business emblem.

In 1837, Jean-Baptiste Lanson, associated with the Delamotte family in the house of Champagne, on the death of Nicolas-Louis Delamotte, was entrusted with the reins of the house, which then took the name Lanson, Père et Fils.

In 1882, Victor-Marie Lanson signed his first exclusive agent contract with the House of Percy Fox in London, a contract that would last for over 100 years, ensuring the success of Champagne Lanson.

The year 1900 marked an important turning point for the House of Lanson. Queen Victoria rewarded Champagne Lanson with the prestigious Royal Warrant of Appointment, which the company still holds today.

From the outset, Maison Lanson has perpetuated the Champagne tradition of not using malolactic fermentation. This specificity favors optimal development of fruit aromas, preserves the freshness of the grapes while allowing longer aging, a guarantee of the quality of the time spent in the prestigious cellars of Maison Lanson.

Description Lanson Vintage Collection 2000 Magnum.

The Lanson family has instituted the Vintage Collection concept to celebrate its finest vintages. Magnums are kept on lees in the Maison's cellars and disgorged to order. Each disgorging date can correspond to a new plateau of evolution and complexity, the magnum format being perfect for this kind of experimentation. Each year, a few vintages, including the sublime 2000 vintage, are offered to a select circle of enthusiasts and connoisseurs.

The blend is made up of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The first nose opens with aromas of bread-making, yeast and brioche. After a few Sec rounds of aeration, more notes of fruit Secs, candied fruit and hazelnuts are perceived, in a greedy ensemble evoking pastry.

The palate is fine and racy, a perfect marriage of ripeness and minerality. An extremely fine bubble delicately emerges and caresses the palate, leaving a very airy sensation. Citrus fruits, lemon and orange zest, as well as subtle tropical and ripe apple notes are all present. The very low dosage of 3 g. per liter contributes to a taut, youthful mouthfeel despite more than 20 years of age.

A great wine resplendent with balance that will enjoy the table company of a crab cake pavé and its citrus vinaigrette, or a scallop carpaccio with truffle.
