Dom Pérignon

Dom Pérignon

An exceptional Champagne that needs no introduction, inviting to a space-time journey that Réserve each time a new gustatory surprise, such is the characteristic of the House Dom Pérignon.

The first Champagne of prestige to be marketed in 1936, it owes its name to the Benedictine monk Pierre Pérignon who officiated as cellarer at the Abbey of Hautvilliers in the seventeenth century, and who is none other than the precursor of the famous Champagne method.

Today, Dom Pérignon is one of the most famous names of the Champagne, synonymous with perfection and refinement, which has the particularity is to be a Champagne exclusively Millésimé, made in years considered exceptional for the region.

The vintage chosen when it was first released was the splendid 1921, and in total, 41 years have been marketed since.

What is the history of the House Dom Pérignon?

Below the famous coat of arms label is a man, the Benedictine monk of Hautvilliers Abbey Pierre Pérignon (1638-1715), known as Dom Pérignon. Having been put in charge of the vineyard of the Abbey in question, he had set himself the goal of producing the best wine possible. As a self-taught winemaker, he was at the origin of the particular art of blending different vintages and grape varieties, thanks to his assertive sensitivity and his certain talent as a taster.

Description Dom Pérignon Vintage 2012.

The 2012 vintage was marked by a series of contradictory climatic events that affected the vineyard. It was characterized by winter and spring frosts, heavy rainfall, hailstorms, cold spells during flowering and periods of intense summer heat. Despite these challenges, a warm and Sec climate ultimately favored grape ripening, leading to the start of harvest on September 10.

Tasting the grapes revealed promising potential, with a delicate balance between freshness and richness.

This is a Champagne blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from 7 Grands Crus of Champagne: Aÿ, Bouzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Chouilly (Mont- Aigu), Cramant, (Les Buissons), Avize, Mesnil sur Oger (Les Joyettes), and from a Premier Cru: Hautvillers, that famous village where Dom Pérignon lived, a monk from the Abbey of the same name and remarkable oenologist for his work at the time.

On the nose, the bouquet is complex and luminous, blending white flowers, citrus and stone fruits. The whole is stimulated by the freshness of aniseed and crushed mint. On breathing, spicy, woody and roasted touches finally emerge.

On the palate, long introverted, the wine finally reveals itself. The coherence between nose and palate is total. The spindle-shaped profile, slender, streamlined, tonic, athletic, imposes itself with warmth. The fruit declaims loud and clear. The acidity that marks the vintage is remarkably well integrated. The persistence is essentially aromatic, gray, smoky, pervasive.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
