What connoisseur of Champagnes doesn't know Maison Laurent-Perrier, whose sumptuous cuvées possess an almost refreshing taste of history? A veritable benchmark within the circle of great Champagne houses, Maison Laurent-Perrier has always demonstrated an innovative spirit, displaying a very distinctive style of finesse and elegance for two centuries now.
It was towards the end of the First Empire, in 1812, that André-Michel Pierlot, a former cooper and bottler from Chigny-les-Roses, settled in Tours-sur-Marne as a wine merchant for Champagne. Tours-sur-Marne is a picturesque village located at the crossroads of the Marne's three main wine-growing regions: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des blancs, and is one of only 17 communes to be classified as Grand Cru. In particular, he acquired two plots of land, "Les Plaisances" and "La Tour Glorieux", on which he built his own house.
His son Alphonse succeeded him, but as the latter had no children, it was his cellar master Eugène Laurent who became the owner in 1881. It was he who endowed this small business of Champagne with several annexes in Tours-sur-Marne and pieces of vines in the region's best crus: Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Ambonnay, all classified as Grand Cru. He also had 800 meters of cellars dug to preserve the wines in optimal conditions, a constant that still characterizes the house today.

Laurent-Perrier only vintages in great years, offering distinctive Champagnes Rares, true to the House's demanding style. The 2015 vintage, marked by contrasting climatic conditions - a mild, rainy winter, a cold spring followed by intense heat and a stormy summer - benefited from a cool September Sec, allowing optimal ripening of the grapes.
A blend of equal parts Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%), this Champagne comes from the best Grands Crus of the Côte des blancs (Chouilly, Oger, Cramant, Oiry) and Montagne de Reims (Tours-sur-Marne, Aÿ, Tauxières, Verzenay, Ambonnay). After 7 years aging on lees, it reveals great aromatic complexity and freshness.
To the eye, it is distinguished by a luminous white-gold color, animated by fine, persistent bubbles. The complex nose opens with notes of beeswax, candied lemon, honeysuckle and hawthorn, evolving towards aromas of toast and orange. On the palate, the attack is lively, giving way to a creamy, elegant texture, marked by flavors of candied lemon and white flowers.
Laurent-Perrier Brut Millésimé 2015 sublimates noble meats (roast veal, Bresse poultry), delicate fish (sea bass, turbot) and refined seafood. It goes perfectly with a "nage champenoise" of scallops and thin slices of cuttlefish, a creation of three-starred chef Christian Le Squer. Enjoy it now, or let it age to deepen its complexity. Serve at 10-12°C in a tulip-shaped glass for the ultimate sensory experience.
