Founded in 1849 in Épernay, Maison Pol Roger is one of the most prestigious Champagne houses. It was founded by Pol Roger, a young man of 18 with a passion for wine. The house quickly made a name for itself with the quality of its cuvées and conquered international markets, notably the UK, where it has become an essential reference.
What grape varieties does Pol Roger use?
Pol Roger mainly uses three grape varieties emblematic of Champagne: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Pinot Noir provides structure and power, Pinot Meunier offers roundness and fruitiness, while Chardonnay confers elegance and finesse. The house is particularly renowned for its well-balanced blends that bring out the best in each grape variety.
What is the winemaking process like at Pol Roger?

Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2015 is a prestige Champagne, a tribute to Winston Churchill, favoring the robust, full-bodied and mature qualities he appreciated.
Composed mainly of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Grands Crus produced during his era, this cuvée is distinguished by the structure provided by the Pinot Noir and the elegance of the Chardonnay. It is produced only during the best vintages.
La robe has a brilliant gold color, accompanied by a string of fine bubbles, testimony to its prolonged ageing.
The nose is complex and generous, opening on spices, pepper and mentholated nuances. Aromas of candied fruit, Secs and hazelnut mingle with eXOtic notes of papaya and mango.
On the palate, the generosity continues with flavors of candied fruit, brioche, viennoiserie and cocoa, supported by a fine structure. The dominance of Pinot Noir grapes lends roundness and power, while the long finish promises a fine pairing with refined dishes.
