Commonly known for its high quality and famous yellow-orange label, Maison Veuve Clicquot has never ceased to be daring since its founding in 1772, in the image of the woman who founded its fame.
She who was nicknamed the "Grande Dame of Champagne" will indeed have become one of the first businesswomen in history, but beyond that, she will have offered an international dimension to her Champagnes that she cherished so much.
It was in 1772 that Philippe Clicquot founded his house of Champagne in Reims. He was succeeded by his son François, who married a certain Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin in 1798. When François died prematurely in 1805, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin found herself at the head of the Champenoise house, and over time proved to be particularly gifted in business. She achieved the feat of maintaining an international distribution network, something very Rare for the time and a testament to her doggedness, and made her Champagnes known throughout Europe among the royal courts, including as far afield as that of the Tsars of Russia.
Success continued over the following centuries, and in 1987 Maison Veuve-Clicquot became part of the LVMH luxury goods group, making it the world's second best-selling Champagne. Veuve-Clicquot's Champagnes have thus never lost their timeless style and great finesse.

True to Madame Clicquot's visionary philosophy, "Our black grapes make the finest white wines", this exceptional vintage combines power and delicacy in a blend of 90% Pinot Noir, complemented by 10% Chardonnay.
Produced from a generous, sun-drenched harvest, this 2018 stands out for its aromatic depth and tactile precision.
The nose reveals a subtle palette of white flowers, stone fruit and fine pastry, supported by an assertive mineral framework.
On the palate, the texture is silky, taut, almost airy, with a long, salivating finish marked by the racy elegance of pinot noir.
Aged on lees for several years, then meticulously tasted, La Grande Dame 2018 embodies the Maison's unique style: a Champagne that is at once structured, vibrant and of great nobility.
Enjoy between 10 and 12°C, on its own to appreciate all its complexity, or with refined dishes such as roasted turbot, white truffle risotto or poultry demi-deuil.
A meditative cuvée for special occasions.
