Domaine Arlaud, located on Côte de Nuits, is an emblematic house of the Burgundy region, renowned for its elegant wines and environmentally-friendly practices.
Domaine was born in 1942, when Joseph Arlaud and Renée Amiot married. From a Burgundian family, owner of plots of land at Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey Chambertin, Renée had a dowry consisting of several parcels of vines.
Over the decades, Joseph Arlaud and his descendants continued to expand and develop Domaine, while maintaining high quality standards.
In the 90s, under the leadership of the new generation, a transition to more environmentally-friendly viticulture began. Treatments were rationalized, the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers was stopped, and the soil was worked by horses. This work paid off, as in 2010, Domaine Arlaud obtained Organic Agriculture certification.
In 2013, Cyprien Arlaud succeeded his father, Hervé, at the helm of Domaine. Keen to take the ecological approach even further, in 2014 he enabled Domaine to become the first Domaine to Morey-Saint-Denis to be certified Biodynamic.
Today, with its 15 hectares, Domaine Arlaud comprises 19 appellations, including 4 Grands Crus: Clos de La Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, Charmes Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.
Located on the same level as Clos de La Roche and just below the renowned Clos de Tart, this climat has all the makings of a great one. On the nose, it gives off sweet spicy aromas of cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. This is complemented by intense, greedy fruit notes after aeration. The palate is structured around a beautiful freshness. Rich and dense, with fine, racy tannins and a satiny texture. Aromatically, it's an explosion of flavors: black fruits, pink berries, cocoa and toast stretch long into the finish.
