Cognac Lhéraud is an artisanal Cognac house, renowned for its commitment to tradition and the exceptional quality of its Cognacs. Founded by the Lhéraud family over four generations ago, this family-run house passionately perpetuates ancestral know-how, while celebrating the wonders of the Cognac terroir.
The history of the Lhéraud family dates back to the 19th century, when Léopold Lhéraud, a passionate winegrower, decided to start producing Cognac. Since then, the family has been committed to pRéserver and passing on its unique know-how from generation to generation.
The house's vineyards are located in the Grande Champagne cru, the region's most prestigious, renowned for its unique limestone soil. This terroir gives rise to grapes of exceptional quality, rich in aroma and character, which are the foundation of Lhéraud's Cognacs.
Lhéraud attaches great importance to rigorous grape selection. Harvesting is carried out by hand, enabling a meticulous selection of the ripest and healthiest bunches. This attention to detail is reflected in the quality of the eaux-de-vie produced, which are then traditionally distilled in copper stills. This artisanal method guarantees the preservation of the subtle aromas and rich terroir in Cognacs Lhéraud.

Pineau François 1er embodies the perfect combination of tradition and excellence, a Charente heritage revived with passion by Maison Lhéraud, an iconic figure in the world of exceptional spirits. Founded in 1860, this family-owned company, renowned for its expertise in Cognac and Pineau des Charentes, has breathed new life into this historic gem by taking over the Domaine des Gatinauds, the birthplace of the legendary Pineau François 1er. The latter, once reserved for an elite group of connoisseurs, is distinguished by its rarity, prolonged aging, and unparalleled aromatic complexity, the result of a meticulous blend of eaux-de-vie and grape musts. Today, Maison Lhéraud boldly continues this art, offering a range where each cuvée tells a story of terroir, patience, and innovation. A symbol of preserved heritage, Pineau François 1er has established itself as an essential reference for lovers of exceptional spirits.
Color: A deep amber hue, almost coppery, which immediately reveals the richness of exceptional aging. Light passes through the glass, creating golden reflections that promise rare complexity.
Nose: The first olfactory contact is a revelation: a generous and refined bouquet, blending notes of ripe candied fig, freshly roasted walnuts, and a touch of bitter cocoa. In the background, a subtle rancio (that fragrance so characteristic of great sweet wines aged in oak barrels) brings an almost mystical depth. The whole is harmonious, without aggressiveness, with a sweetness that is already gently expressed.
Palate: The attack is silky and enveloping, like liquid velvet. The flavors unfold in successive layers: first the sweetness of dried fruit (apricot, fig), then a mineral concentration reminiscent of the Charente terroir. The tannins, although discreet, structure the whole with elegance. The sweetness is present, but never cloying—it is balanced by a fresh acidity that revives the tasting.
Finish: Remarkably long, the finish is elegant and persistent. The aromas of cocoa and nuts echo back, accompanied by a hint of sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla). The whole leaves an impression of fullness, as if each sip told a story of 50 years of history and patience.
Pairings: To be enjoyed slowly, on its own or accompanied by pan-fried foie gras, blue cheeses (Roquefort, Bleu des Causses), or a dark chocolate dessert. Serve between 54°F and 57°F to bring out its nuances.
