If "Octobre Rose" is so important in France and abroad, it's because breast cancer still affects so many women.

- in France, 650,000 women are or have been affected by breast cancer.
- There are 54,000 new cases every year.
- Some 12,000 women die from the disease.
- According to cancerdusein.org, it is estimated that one woman in eight is at risk of developing breast cancer.
