The Château Mouton Rothschild is known to all wine lovers, not only for its exceptional wines but also for its labels signed by artists since the 1945 vintage.
The story of Mouton Rothschild began in 1853, when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Château Brane-Mouton from Pauillac, renaming it Mouton-Rothschild. In 1922, his great-grandson Philippe de Rothschild took over the reins for the next 65 years, and it was he who raised Mouton Rothschild to the pinnacle of its glory thanks to his determination and doggedness. "As far as winegrowers know, 2011 was one of the hottest, sunniest and, above all, driest years in the last four decades. These conditions benefited the vine's vegetative cycle, with flowering occurring as early as May 15. However, the summer was paradoxically wet and cool.
Thanks to the return of fine weather at the beginning of September, the harvest took place in bright sunshine from September 12 to 28. Made from grapes concentrated by the year's drought, the wine has an intense, dark red color with violet nuances. The elegant nose is marked by aromas of red fruits and spices. On the palate, an unctuous attack and powerful, velvety tannins offer remarkable roundness and excellent length.
The finish combines fine notes of vanilla and cocoa with a few floral touches. Structured and deep, Mouton Rothschild 2011 is a classic vintage and a great success for this vintage"
