Château Mouton Rothschild

The Château Mouton Rothschild is known to all wine lovers, not only for its exceptional wines but also for its labels signed by artists since the 1945 vintage.

The story of Mouton Rothschild began in 1853, when Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Château Brane-Mouton from Pauillac, renaming it Mouton-Rothschild. In 1922, his great-grandson Philippe de Rothschild took over the reins for the next 65 years, and it was he who raised Mouton Rothschild to the pinnacle of its glory thanks to his determination and doggedness. A quest for excellence pursued by his daughter, Baroness Philippine.

By an official decree issued in 1973 by Jacques Chirac, Minister of Agriculture at the time, Château Mouton Rothschild would be declared the fifth Ier Grand Cru Classé, alongside Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Haut-Brion, Château Latour and Château Margaux.

Description Château Mouton Rothschild 2007.

Once again this year, Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the majority of the Mouton Rothschild blend. On the nose, the aromatic palette is rich: red fruit, black fruit, blackberry, licorice.

On aeration, peppery spices mingle harmoniously with the vanilla brought by the early ageing in new barrels. Floral nuances evoke lilac and peony, followed by menthol, mineral and smoky notes. Very fleshy on the palate, with powerful yet velvety tannins, the wine shows remarkable balance.

Château Mouton Rothschild 2007, a highly demanding vintage in technical terms, from vineyard care to vinification, is one of the estate's great successes. Its harmony, power and elegance make it a wine for laying down.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
