Château Nenin

The Château Nénin is among the most appreciated and unavoidable wines of the Pomerol appellation. Its origins date back to the 18th century with the Demay family, then passed into the hands of the Paillet and Despujol families, respectively in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was only in 1997 that it was acquired by the Delon family, owners of Château Léoville Las Cases in the Médoc. Numerous restructuring works have been undertaken, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, in order to restore the property's reputation and to place it among the most distinguished crus of Pomerol. Jean-Hubert Delon is now at the helm.

The Château Nénin watches over a 32-hectare vineyard in a single block except for a single parcel, planted on gravel and clay soils with iron crasses in depth, bringing a singular aromatic profile to the wines. The grape varieties are 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, the percentage of new wood of which varies according to the vintage.

The property produces a Second wine, Fugue de Nénin, with as much care and precision as its older sibling.

The Château Nénin is a very big Domaine of Pomerol. Its wines are racy, powerful and complex, where freshness and purity of fruit are expressed.
