Guigal has long been synonymous with excellence and renown in the Rhône Valley, and its iconic wines are recognized around the world for their exceptional quality and distinctive character. Among Guigal's signature wines are those of Côte-Rôtie, an appellation that represents the very essence of Domaine. Côte-Rôtie is famous for its steeply terraced vineyards, schist soils and continental climate. The resulting red wines are elegant, powerful and complex. Guigal offers several Côte-Rôtie cuvées, including the famous "La Mouline", "La Turque" and "La Landonne". These wines are refined expressions of Syrah, with seductive aromas of black fruits, spices, violets and licorice, as well as a remarkable tannic structure. Another iconic Guigal wine is Hermitage, a prestigious appellation located on a hill overlooking the town of Tain-l'Hermitage. E. Guigal La Landonne 2009 is a monumental, structured wine, a reflection of the clay-limestone terroir enriched with iron oxides. Made from 100% Syrah from vines aged around 30 years, it is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with a maceration period of at least 4 weeks, before an exceptional 42-month ageing period in new barrels, offering depth and intensity.
Its intense purple color with black highlights precedes a complex nose marked by ripe black fruits, smoky notes, black pepper, smoked meat and a subtle touch of graphite.
The full, dense palate reveals powerful yet silky tannins, impressive concentration and great aromatic length. This exceptionally intense vintage offers a pure expression of terroir and stands out for its ageing potential of over 30 years.
Best served between 16 and 18°C, it sublimates rich dishes such as grilled wagyu beef, spice-glazed duck or aged porcini and parmesan risotto, magnifying its imposing structure and aromatic complexity.
