E. Guigal La Turque 1999 is a gem from Domaine Guigal, expressing the power and elegance characteristic of the Côte Brune, with a touch of finesse inherited from the accents of the Côte Blonde.
Made from 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, this wine comes from 25-year-old vines planted on silico-limestone soil enriched with iron oxides, giving this cuvée a unique aromatic depth.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with automatic punching of the cap, followed by a 4-week maceration. The exceptional 40-month ageing in new barrels accentuates the wine's richness and complexity.
Its intense ruby-red color with dark highlights heralds a deep, refined nose, blending ripe red fruit (Morello cherry, blackberry), oriental spices, smoky notes and delicate floral aromas.
On the palate, the attack is supple, giving way to great concentration balanced by silky tannins. The assertive expression of terroir translates into a powerful structure, remarkable fullness and a long, persistent finish with notes of cocoa, leather and liquorice.
This long-ageing wine (over 20 years) has now reached perfect maturity.
Served between 16 and 18°C, it is ideal with sophisticated dishes such as pigeon stuffed with foie gras, herb-crusted rack of lamb or roast wild duck with black cherries, highlighting its aromatic complexity and velvety texture.
