E. Guigal La Turque 2015 - Côte-Rôtie embodies the excellence of Domaine Guigal, combining the characteristic power of the Côte Brune with a subtle elegance derived from Côte Blonde influences.
This vintage is a blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, from vines aged around 35 years. The silico-limestone soil, enriched with iron oxides, gives this cuvée a marked minerality and great aromatic complexity.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with automatic punching down, ensuring controlled Extraction of aromas and tannins. After a 4-week maceration, the wine is aged for 40 months in new barrels, accentuating its imposing structure and aromatic depth.
Its intense purple color with black highlights heralds an opulent, refined nose, revealing ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry), spicy notes (black pepper, clove), hints of violet and smoky, toasty nuances.
On the palate, the attack is full-bodied, revealing impressive density underpinned by velvety, powerful tannins. The long, persistent finish is marked by aromas of truffle, bitter cocoa and a touch of noble leather.
This long-ageing wine (over 25 years) will evolve magnificently over time. To be enjoyed between 16 and 18°C, it goes perfectly with refined dishes such as grilled Wagyu beef, pithiviers of pigeon with morels or leg of lamb confit with herbs, revealing all its depth and aromatic power.
