Among Guigal's signature wines are those of Côte-Rôtie, an appellation that represents the very essence of Domaine. Côte-Rôtie is famous for its steeply terraced vineyards, schist soils and continental climate. The resulting red wines are elegant, powerful and complex. Guigal offers several Côte-Rôtie cuvées, including the famous "La Mouline", "La Turque" and "La Landonne". These wines are refined expressions of Syrah, with seductive aromas of black fruits, spices, violets and licorice, as well as a remarkable tannic structure. Another iconic Guigal wine is Hermitage, a prestigious appellation located on a hill overlooking the town of Tain-l'Hermitage. E. Guigal La Turque 2010 is an exceptional cuvée that reveals all the power and finesse of Côte-Rôtie. Composed of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, this wine comes from vines around 25 years old grown on silico-limestone soils rich in iron oxides, giving the wine great aromatic depth and complexity Rare.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by a 4-week maceration and automatic punching of the cap. This process brings out Extra all the richness of the fruit while respecting the wine's elegance. Ageing in new barrels for 40 months gives the wine a balanced structure and remarkable finesse.
Intense ruby-red in color, La Turque 2010 offers a complex nose, combining aromas of ripe black fruit, such as blackcurrant and blackberry, with spicy, woody notes and a subtle floral touch.
On the palate, the attack is extremely smooth, before giving way to a dense but perfectly integrated structure. The silky texture and elegant tannins support a long, refined finish, with nuances of dark chocolate, leather and licorice.
This wine will improve with age, and can be kept for over 20 years. Best served between 16 and 18°C, it is ideal with rich, delicate dishes such as rack of lamb with Provence herbs, game stew or pan-fried foie gras. These pairings will sublimate its deep aromas and silky texture.
