E. Guigal La Turque 2013 is a remarkable wine that reflects the power and complexity of the Côte-Rôtie terroir.
Composed of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, it comes from vines around 25 years old, grown on silico-limestone soils enriched with iron oxides, which give this cuvée exceptional depth and aromatic richness.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, followed by a 4-week maceration and automatic cap-punching, to optimize the Extraction of aromas and the wine's structure. Extended ageing in new barrels for 40 months allows the wine to develop great complexity, while retaining remarkable elegance and finesse.
With its intense ruby-red color, La Turque 2013 reveals a complex nose, where ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) mingle with spicy and floral notes, accompanied by subtle woody touches. On the palate, the attack is silky, before giving way to a dense, well-balanced structure. The tannins are refined, supporting a long, persistent finish marked by aromas of cocoa, leather and liquorice.
This wine has excellent cellaring potential and can evolve for many years, well over 20.
Served between 16 and 18°C, it goes perfectly with tasty, sophisticated dishes such as tournedos Rossini, filet mignon en croûte or mature cheeses like Comté or Saint-Nectaire. These dishes will accentuate the wine's rich aromas and velvety texture.
