The E. Guigal La Turque 2017 is an exceptional wine that embodies the power and finesse of the Côte-Rôtie terroir.
Composed of 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, this vintage comes from vines around 25 years old, grown on silico-limestone soils rich in iron oxides, giving this cuvée remarkable depth and aromatic complexity.
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by a 4-week maceration and automatic punching down, to Extra extract all the richness of the fruit. Extended ageing for 40 months in new barrels gives the wine subtle aromas and a silky structure, while preserving the elegance and finesse characteristic of the cuvée.
Deep ruby-red in color, La Turque 2017 reveals a complex nose, blending aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), delicate spices, woody and floral touches, with a fine minerality.
On the palate, the attack is velvety, followed by a dense, balanced structure, with silky tannins supporting a long, elegant finish, marked by notes of cocoa, liquorice and leather.
This wine has exceptional cellaring potential, and can be kept for many years, well over 20. Served between 16 and 18°C, it goes perfectly with refined, tasty dishes such as roast game (venison, wild boar), herb-flavored rack of lamb or mature cheeses like Beaufort. These pairings will bring out the aromatic richness and silky texture of this wine.
