The Château Villemaurine embodies the union between a rich history and an exceptional terroir. Located in the prestigious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, this family-run Domaine enjoys international renown, as much for the quality of its wines as for the cultural heritage it conveys.
The history of the Villemaurine family goes back several centuries. In the 18th century, the de La Clotte family already owned vines on this territory, but it was in the early 19th century that they acquired Château Villemaurine, giving birth to a line of passionate winemakers. Over the generations, the family has passed on its know-how, preserving winegrowing traditions while embracing technical innovations.
The Château Villemaurine has seen periods of prosperity and challenges throughout its history. Expansions of Domaine and renovations were undertaken to modernize the winemaking facilities while respecting the authenticity of the site. Today, the Villemaurine family continues to invest passion and dedication in managing the estate, preserving the soul of Domaine and ensuring its longevity for future generations.
But if history is a fundamental pillar of Château Villemaurine, the quality of the terroir is just as paramount. The vineyard extends over a limestone plateau characteristic of the Saint-Émilion region, with clay-limestone soils favorable to viticulture. This unique geological composition lends the wines an elegance and complexity all their own.

To the eye, La robe is deep ruby, brilliant and limpid, heralding good concentration. On the nose, the wine opens with a complex, bewitching bouquet, dominated by black fruit aromas such as black cherry and blackberry, accompanied by subtle floral notes of violet. Spicy, woody nuances, inherited from its ageing in oak barrels, add an extra dimension of cedar, vanilla and a touch of roasting.
On the palate, the Château Villemaurine 2017 impresses with its remarkable balance. The fine tannins are perfectly integrated, offering a silky structure that supports the richness of the fruit. Well-controlled acidity lends a freshness that energizes the whole, while the finish is long and persistent, marked by flavors of jammy red fruit and hints of cocoa.
To fully appreciate this wine, it is the perfect accompaniment to refined dishes such as beef filet en croûte, truffle risotto or well-aged soft cheese.
