The origins of this Château date back to the 18th century, but it is only since its acquisition in 1952 by new owners that this Château has achieved notoriety, being classified as a Cru Bourgeois in 1932, promoted to the rank of Exceptional in the 2003 classification and finally proposed in 2009 for classification as a potential 4th Cru Classé.
The terroir is carried by a gravelly hilltop on a clay-limestone subsoil, a character and a guarantee of exceptional qualities.
The vineyard extends over approximately 65 ha in the commune of St Estèphe, Château thus benefiting from this prestigious appellation.
This is a Haut Médoc Classé St Estèphe wine. The grape varieties are 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and the wine is aged in new barrels.
This is a wine to be consumed at room temperature after optimal cellaring, verified year after year.
The Château Haut-Marbuzet, one of the most historic Domaines in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, was founded in 1770 and acquired in 1952 by Hervé Duboscq, keen to bring out the potential of the prestigious terroirs of the Rive gauche de Bordeaux.
This 66-hectare vineyard, with vines averaging 30 years of age, rests on a plateau of Günzian gravel with a clay-limestone subsoil, an ideal setting for Bordeaux grape varieties. Hand-picked between September 11th and 29th, the grapes underwent a 19-day maceration, the wine's tannic density allowing limited pumping-over without recourse to press wine.
This blend, composed of Merlot (55%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%), gives the wine remarkable depth and tannic richness, representative of a great Saint-Estèphe.
