Le Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a renowned Domaine winery located in the Sauternes region, in the heart of the Bordeaux region.
This exceptional vineyard boasts a rich history, a deep winegrowing tradition and a beautiful Domaine, making it one of the world's most prestigious producers of sweet wines.
The history dates back to the Middle Ages, when Domaine belonged to noble families of the region. However, it was in the 18th century that the name Haut-Peyraguey became emblematic thanks to a visionary winemaker by the name of Monsieur Bompar. He bought the property in 1804 and worked hard to modernize the vineyard and winemaking, establishing the reputation of as one of the greatest producers of Sauternes.
The Bernard family then acquired Domaine in 1973, bringing with them a deep passion for the sweet wines of Sauternes. Under their management, Clos Haut-Peyraguey has continued to produce wines of exceptional quality, respecting the region's centuries-old winemaking tradition.
The Domaine extends over some 17 hectares of vines, planted mainly with the Sémillon grape variety, but also with Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. These vineyards benefit from an exceptional terroir, composed of clay-limestone and gravel soils, which are essential for the development of botrytis cinerea, the fungus responsible for the noble rot that gives the grapes their syrupy character.
The harvest is selectively done by hand, in several passes through the vines to pick only those grapes affected by noble rot. The winemaking process is meticulous, with fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, giving the wines their rich character, smoothness and aromatic depth.
The wines are sought after by wine lovers the world over for their perfect balance of sweetness, acidity and aromatic complexity. Each vintage is an authentic expression of Sauternes's terroir and the Bernard family's savoir-faire.

Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2018, the smallest of the Sauternes Premiers Grands Crus Classés, extends over 8.5 hectares in a single block, located opposite Yquem's Château. This historic Domaine, acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, rests on gravelly-sandy soils with a clay subsoil.
Mainly composed of Semillon (95%) and a hint of Sauvignon (5%), this complex wine is the fruit of 40-year-old vines. Vinification takes place in new or single-vineyard barrels, with regular racking, and hand-picking is carried out in three selections.
