Château Suduiraut

The Château Suduiraut is one of the finest wines from the Sauternes vineyard. The property dates back to the 17th century and boasts sumptuous gardens designed by André Le Nôtre, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the vineyard.

The Château Suduiraut was named Premier Grand Cru Classé in the classification of Bordeaux wines officialized in 1855 for the Paris Universal Exhibition.

Owned by the AXA millésimes group since 1992, its quality and reputation have grown steadily to become today one of the finest wines of Sauternes. Nothing is left to chance to meet this objective: passion of the teams, tailor-made choice of plots, selective harvesting, rigorous vinification and blending.

The Château Suduiraut watches over a 91-hectare vineyard planted on sandy-clay gravel soils. The grape varieties are 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are aged for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

In liquoreux, the estate produces a Second wine, Les Lions de Suduiraut, as well as a third wine, Castelnau de Suduiraut.

The estate also produces four Sec white wines in the Bordeaux appellation, which are in order of quality: the grand vin, a Pur Sémillon cuvée, Lions de Suduiraut and S de Suduiraut.

Description Château Suduiraut 2010.

The Château Suduiraut 2010 has an intense golden-yellow color, revealing slight amber reflections, evidence of its evolution. On the nose, the wine reveals complex, generous aromas: candied notes, elegant oak, acacia honey and roasted apricots dominate, followed, after aeration, by nuances of plum, saffron, almond and a subtle touch of green Chartreuse. On the palate, the 2010 vintage displays opulent richness, with flavors of candied fruit, plum and oak, supported by an unctuous texture. The dynamic, elegant finish brings accents of cocoa bean, ginger and vanilla, balancing power and freshness.

This wine shows impressive structure, combining power and precision without heaviness. Although just beginning to open up, it will gain in complexity with time, suggesting exceptional ageing potential. It is already one of the great vintages, forming a remarkable duo with 2009, comparable to the legendary 1989-1990 tandem.

This 2010 reflects the mastery of climatic conditions and the know-how of Château Suduiraut, offering a wine that is at once powerful, elegant and infinitely promising.
