The Château Sigalas Rabaud is located in the heart of the Sauternes vineyard, standing out from all its neighbors as a magnificent building with the air of a family estate. Owned by the De Lambert family for 6 generations, this Domaine has always produced exceptional sweet wines renowned for their class and refinement.
Today, Marquise Laure de Cambert Compeyrot continues this family passion, always with refinement, modernity and tradition.
The Château Sigalas Rabaud was consecrated Premier Grand Cru Classé during the classification of Bordeaux wines officialized in 1855 for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
The Château Sigalas Rabaud watches over a vineyard of 14 hectares of vines, planted on a clay-gravel hilltop. The grape varieties are 85% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new.
The estate also produces a Second wine, Lieutenant de Sigalas. Great white wines Secs are also produced here, Sémillon-based Sémillante de Sigalas and Demoiselle de Sigalas, which is a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon blanc.
The Château Sigalas Rabaud is a wine of beautiful aromatic richness and splendid finesse. It is unquestionably a very great Sauternes.
The 2016 Château Sigalas Rabaud, Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes, is a wine of great finesse and freshness. A rainy spring was followed by a hot summer Sec, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually. Three successive selections enabled us to harvest noble berries, without excess sugar, thus preserving the typical balance of Domaine.
Composed of 100% Semillon, this vintage was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. The highly expressive nose reveals bright aromas of fresh fruit such as pineapple, apple and white peach, with delicate floral notes. On the palate, it's crisp, taut and balanced, with a pure, persistent finish.
