Godet
Godet is a Maison de Commerce de Cognac founded in 1782, but earlier archives allow us to go back as far as 1550, when Bonnaventure Godet from the Netherlands set up a wine business on the Quai de La Rochelle.
Later, Jean Godet, ennobled by King Louis XIV of France, was Mayor for life of Fontenais.
In 1782, in the 7th generation, Maison Godet was entered in the Trade Register as a trader in Cognac, a key act authenticating this house.
Today, Maison Godet is run by the fifteenth generation, still based in La Rochelle.
Description Godet Millésime 1990.
The Godet Millésime offers a unique Rare vision of the Cognac. Aged in Dame-Jeanne, it is bottled exclusively on request in a personalized, hand-calligraphed bottle. An authentic expression of a specific vintage and terroir, a fragment of history to be savored.
This exceptional eau-de-vie is a magnificent reflection of 1990, undoubtedly the vintage of the century in the Cognac region.
Behind its beautiful amber color, a warm nose greets us. Vanilla and caramel aromas intertwine delicately with notes of oak, candied citrus and fresh almond. A hint of musk is also perceptible, along with subtle floral touches of jasmine. The whole has a refined and complex aromatic profile, very seductive.
On the palate, the attack is greedy and the first impressions confirm the nose with vanilla and fruity notes. The 1990 vintage unfurls all its power, the balance is remarkably right with well-melted alcohol and a very fine tannic structure that coats the tongue. Flavors are rich and complex, with notes of Secs fruits and spices that flatter the palate. A smooth, long finish with fine, lingering rancio notes completes the picture of this slow-drinking, high-class Cognac.
