Godet
Godet is a Maison de Commerce de Cognac founded in 1782, but earlier archives allow us to go back as far as 1550, when Bonnaventure Godet from the Netherlands set up a wine business on the Quai de La Rochelle.
Later, Jean Godet, ennobled by King Louis XIV of France, was Mayor for life of Fontenais.
In 1782, in the 7th generation, Maison Godet was entered in the Trade Register as a trader in Cognac, a key act authenticating this house.
Today, Maison Godet is run by the fifteenth generation, still based in La Rochelle.
Description Godet Millésime 1994.
The Godet Millésime offers a unique Rare vision of the Cognac. Aged in Dame-Jeanne, it is bottled exclusively on request in a personalized, hand-calligraphed bottle. An authentic expression of a specific vintage and terroir, a fragment of history to be savored.
This exceptional eau-de-vie is a magnificent reflection of 1994, a very good year in the Cognac region: extremely favorable July and August gave way to a rainy period in early September. This was followed by a warm, sunny period, enabling the harvest to take place in magnificent conditions and producing rich, perfectly balanced wines.
This Cognac sports a brilliant pale gold color and reveals a lovely nose, a little discreet on attack but quickly intensifying with aeration to release notes of acacia flowers and orange blossom, in a very subtle whole. The nose becomes fruity and delicately spicy with wonderful woody and vanilla notes.
The aroma on the palate reveals a sweet concert of candied fruits, apricot Secs, honey, spices and dried flowers. The whole retains great balance and freshness. The finish is full-bodied, evoking elegant notes of blond tobacco and leather. A very seductive Cognac.
