Normandin-Mercier

Cognac Normandin-Mercier, it's an old 18th-century dwelling nestled in the saintongeaise countryside surrounded by cellars where the treasures of this House dating from the Second French Empire under Napoléon III sleep.

Created in 1872, today a fifth generation is looking after this long-established heritage, hidden not far from La Rochelle,  "the rebel city" with its headquarters by Louis XIII and Richelieu, the port of origin for the first shipments of wines and then later in the 17th century of brandies distilled in its hinterland named Cognac from the mid-19th century onwards.

This is where Premiers Grands Crus, true to its Quality Charter, has unearthed this gem of Cognac.

Description Normandin-Mercier 1976.

The Cognac "Normandin-Mercier Petite Champagne 1976" is a Rare bottle that perfectly illustrates the ancestral savoir-faire of the Normandin Mercier house. This elixir, taken from an emblematic year marked by exceptional drought, stands out for its extraordinary aromatic concentration and seemingly inexhaustible richness of flavor.

To the eye, its amber color already promises a rich sensory experience. The nose reveals impressive complexity, evoking aromas of lily and orange peel. Such an introduction prepares the palate for a tasting marked by astonishing freshness, evoking eXOtic fruits, before giving way to a gourmand finish reminiscent of walnut and other tertiary nuances.

Bottled in 2016, after spending decades in carefully selected oak casks in the Tronçais forest, this Cognac is not only a reflection of the exceptional 1976 vintage, but also of Normandin Mercier's commitment to producing eaux-de-vie of unrivalled quality. The Gold Medal won at the 2016 International Wine and Spirit Competition is testament to this excellence.

In short, Cognac "Normandin-Mercier Petite Champagne 1976" is a legacy of time to be savored with reverence.
