Château Montifaud

La Maison Montifaud, located in the heart of the Cognac region of France, is a renowned distillery that embodies excellence in the production of Cognac.

Founded in 1837 by Augustin Vallet, this house of Cognacs is today run by the sixth generation of the Vallet family, a testament to the family's ongoing commitment to tradition and craftsmanship.

The Vallet family history dates back over 180 years, when Augustin Vallet established the Montifaud distillery. Since then, the Vallet family have dedicated their lives to producing exceptional Cognacs, passing on their expertise from generation to generation. This family continuity is an essential part of the Montifaud philosophy, where each family member is committed to pRéserver the heritage while seeking to innovate and constantly improve the quality of their Cognacs.

Montifaud's Domaine viticultural estate is vast, spanning hectares of well-tended vineyards in the Petite Champagne region, one of Cognac's most prestigious crus. The limestone and clay soils of Petite Champagne bring a unique complexity and aromatic richness to the grapes that form the basis of Cognacs Montifaud. This considerable Domaine size enables Montifaud to grow its own vines, closely monitor every stage of production and guarantee the exceptional quality of its eaux-de-vie.

Description Château de Montifaud 2005.

Château de Montifaud 2005 is a demonstration of Maison Vallet's expertise in producing exceptional Cognacs. This limited edition of 460 bottles is part of the "Les Grandes Années" collection, which features exclusively Cognacs produced in the highest-quality years.

The 2005 vintage boasts a brilliant straw-yellow color. The highly complex nose reveals a refined bouquet combining aromas of ripe peach, floral nuances of jasmine, and elegant touches of vanilla and melted wood, conferring depth and subtlety.

The palate seduces with its finesse and aromatic precision, carried by a marked expression of ripe, well-structured grapes. Perfectly controlled aromatic intensity is balanced by delicate freshness. The persistent, harmonious finish prolongs the experience on elegant, mellow notes.

This vintage is at its best with soft, mature cheeses, or deep-flavored desserts such as dark chocolate fondant, pear tarts or almond-based creations, which will reveal its vanilla and candied fruit aromas. For a more daring pairing, it's the perfect match for duck breast with sweet spices, or pan-fried foie gras with a balsamic reduction, for a gastronomic experience of great elegance.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
