A House of Cognac, located in Chermignac in the heart of this deep Saintonge, not far from Saintes, a Roman city with limestone soils where the Romans planted their first vines in Gaul at the very beginning of our era.
Saintes could have become the capital of Cognac, but it had to give way to its rival Cognac, which later gave its name to France's most famous eau-de-vie at the end of the 19th century.
The house of Vallein-Tercinier was founded in 1850 and is still run today by a 5th generation bearing the same name.
From the most confidential area of the Cognac appellation, the Borderies cru, this 1995 vintage Brut de Fût signed Vallein Tercinier reveals all the singularity of this exceptional terroir.
Aged for 28 years in a single barrel of French Limousin oak (barrel no. 149), it was bottled in 2023 at its natural 48.7% strength, without cold filtration or added colorant. Only 628 bottles were drawn from this batch Rare, preserving the authenticity of an unmodified spirit.
From the very first nose, this Cognac seduces with its elegant roundness and refined floral aromas. A delicate violet note, typical of Borderies, is accompanied by white flowers, creating a soft, harmonious aromatic expression. Intensity remains controlled, giving way to an impression of purity and delicacy.
The palate is greedy and expressive, marked by flavors of ripe vine peach and freshly crushed apple. On the finish, a subtle hint of rancio appears, accompanied by candied fruit, adding a bittersweet complexity that pleasantly prolongs the tasting experience. The texture, both silky and ample, makes this a Cognac of great finesse.
This Vallein Tercinier 1995 Borderies is a collector's item, but above all an emotional spirit, at Réserver for connoisseurs in search of authenticity and depth. A perfect alliance between the aromatic charm of the vintage and the time that sculpts the greatest Cognacs.
