A House of Cognac, located in Chermignac in the heart of this deep Saintonge, not far from Saintes, a Roman city with limestone soils where the Romans planted their first vines in Gaul at the very beginning of our era.
Saintes could have become the capital of Cognac, but it had to give way to its rival Cognac, which later gave its name to France's most famous eau-de-vie at the end of the 19th century.
The house of Vallein-Tercinier was founded in 1850 and is still run today by a 5th generation bearing the same name.
Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût 1975 is an exceptional Cognac from the largest of the appellation's crus, renowned for producing supple, generous and fruity eaux-de-vie. This vintage Rare, distilled in 1975, was aged for almost 48 years in a single French Limousin oak barrel, n°148, before being bottled in 2023 at its natural degree of 52.1%.
Only 614 bottles were produced, giving this cuvée a precious Rareté and a confidential character.
On opening, the nose is immediately seductive, with its great sweetness and remarkable depth. Aromas of golden brioche, damp undergrowth, fresh walnut and green almond intertwine with a refined rancio, characteristic of very aged Cognacs. A warm, comforting sensation that evolves elegantly in the glass.
The palate is full-bodied and rich, with intense notes of candied fruit (apricot, fig and Sec grapes), subtle wood and sweet spices. Despite its power, this Cognac retains a beautiful freshness and harmony. The texture is both creamy and structured, with a long, flavorful aftertaste.
Vallein Tercinier 1975 is a testament Rare to time and craftsmanship, a collectible Cognac that perfectly illustrates the profound qualities of Fins Bois at its finest. A bottle to savor slowly, for an intense and memorable tasting experience.
