Fanny Fougerat, 4th generation of a family of winemaker-distillers.
Installed in Burie on 30Ha of vines in the Borderies (smallest cru of Cognac) and in the Fins Bois, and supplier of eaux de vie destined for the blends of the major trading houses, Fanny Fougerat took over the family business in the early 2010s with the firm intention of selling her Cognacs under her own brand. From vine to wine, from wine to eau de vie and from eau de vie to Cognac, Fanny Fougerat strives for freshness, precision and authenticity. Her first cuvée was bottled in 2013. It marks the style of this passionate young entrepreneur: fresh, uncluttered yet lively Cognacs of exceptional quality.
This Seconde edition of Cognac Marin confirms the audacity and finesse of the Fanny Fougerat house, with a confidential lot from a Borderies 2016 sublimated by an unprecedented finish. The wood, exposed for a year to the salty winds and sea spray of the Charente coast, gives this Cognac a unique signature, between marine energy and aromatic precision.
Finishing in "marine" casks (only 13 days) respects the integrity of the distillate, while adding a touch of iodine and light salinity to the finish, without masking the floral and fruity structure typical of Borderies.
On the palate, the balance is subtle: the attack retains a fine liveliness, the mid-palate reveals notes of fresh pear, dried flowers and sweet spices, while the saline, structured finish evokes westerly winds and wet wood.
This 40% vol. Cognac, unsweetened and unblended, vibrates with a pure, free winemaking spirit, true to the house's DNA.
A strictly limited edition of 1,085 bottles, this cuvée Hors-Série embodies an artisanal, sensory and seasonal approach to Cognac, resolutely aimed at demanding connoisseurs in search of singularity and terroir.
