Rosebank

Rosebank, once known as the "King of the Lowlands," is a legendary distillery whose history, closure, and spectacular resurrection have left their mark on the Scottish whisky industry. Founded in 1840 in Falkirk, on the banks of the Forth & Clyde Canal, Rosebank built a reputation for excellence thanks to its fruity, floral, and unparalleled smoothness, produced using unique traditional methods. After thirty years of silence, the distillery was brought back to life in 2023 by Ian Macleod Distillers, who restored its historic buildings and restarted production using the recipes of yesteryear. Today, Rosebank embodies both heritage and innovation, offering whisky lovers a unique experience that blends tradition and modernity.

The Rosebank adventure began in 1840, when James Rankine, a local wine and tea merchant, founded the distillery in Camelon, near Falkirk. From the outset, Rosebank stood out for the quality of its whiskies, produced using traditional methods and triple distillation, a rarity in the Lowlands. For over a century, the distillery prospered, becoming a pillar of the region and a key supplier for Scotch blends.

However, the economic challenges of the 1980s and 1990s, combined with strict environmental standards, led to its closure in 1993. For nearly three decades, Rosebank remained silent, its stills and buildings falling into disrepair. But in 2017, Ian Macleod Distillers, already owners of the Glengoyne and Tamdhu distilleries, bought the site and announced an ambitious project: to bring Rosebank back to life, preserving its heritage while modernizing its facilities.

After four years of meticulous restoration, production restarted in 2023. The historic buildings, including the iconic chimney and red brick warehouses, have been preserved and integrated into a new, ultra-modern distillery. Rosebank officially reopened its doors to the public in June 2024, marking the... See more ...

Description Rosebank 31 ans.

Rosebank 31 Year Old is a single malt of unparalleled rarity and elegance, the result of more than three decades of maturation and legendary expertise. This jewel of the Lowlands embodies the quintessence of triple distillation, offering a tasting experience of exceptional finesse and complexity.

The nose offers a captivating freshness: the sweetness of vanilla, the roundness of almonds, the liveliness of lime, the subtlety of coriander seeds and a hint of cloves combine to create a delicate first impression.

On the palate, a captivating vibrancy: deep notes of leather, the freshness of mint, the sweetness of chamomile and the richness of banana bread reveal themselves in harmony, offering a rich and balanced taste experience.

The finish, with its lingering delicacy, allows aromas of juicy peach, noble oak, and fresh grass to blossom, for a conclusion that is both subtle and memorable.

This whisky owes its unique character to a meticulous production process: 100% malted barley, triple distillation in swan-neck stills equipped with worm tub condensers, and 31 years of aging in sherry butt (35%) and bourbon hogshead (65%) casks. Unchillfiltered, it preserves all its richness and authenticity, for a tasting experience that pays tribute to the heritage of a legendary distillery, once known as the "King of the Lowlands." An exceptional bottle, reserved for lovers of rare and refined whiskeys.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
