Nestled on the shores of Scotland's most iconic lake, Loch Lomond Whiskies embodies the perfect blend of tradition and innovation. Since 1814, this Highland distillery has reinvented itself to become one of the country's most dynamic and award-winning, thanks to unique production methods, revolutionary stills, and a range of whiskies of rare diversity. With expressions ranging from fruity and delicately peated single malts to bold single grains, Loch Lomond stands out for its craftsmanship, commitment to quality, and historical heritage. In 2024, the distillery was named Scotch Whisky Producer of the Year and won more awards than any other brand at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, confirming its status as a rising star in Scotch whisky.
The history of Loch Lomond dates back to the 19th century, with the first traces of a distillery near the lake dating back to 1814. However, it was in 1965 that the modern distillery was established in Alexandria, under the leadership of American entrepreneur Duncan Thomas. After a period of silence in the 1980s, Loch Lomond was reborn in 1987 and has continued to grow ever since, becoming a key player in the industry thanks to its innovative approach and respect for Scottish traditions.
Today, Loch Lomond is proud to carry on a heritage dating back two centuries, while pushing the boundaries of distillation. The distillery is also linked to the history of Littlemill, Scotland's oldest legal distillery (1772), part of whose heritage it took over after its closure.
Loch Lomond stands out for its unique approach to distillation, which allows it to produce an exceptionally varied range of whiskies, from light and fruity single malts to richly peated expressions.
Innovative stills for unique profiles
Unlike most Scottish distilleries, Loch Lomond uses three types of stills:
... See more ...This Loch Lomond 21 Year Old is a bold and refined expression, where peat meets fruity sweetness in a blend of great finesse. Made from 100% malted barley, it stands out for the diversity of its peat profiles: a heavily peated malt (50 PPM), another classic peated malt (25 PPM), and a third unpeated malt. These three components, aged for 21 years in first and second fill bourbon casks, come together to offer a rich and balanced taste experience.
Distilled in Lomond stills—a signature technique of the distillery—this single malt is non-chill filtered, preserving the full intensity of its aromas.
On the nose, it reveals a captivating intensity, blending notes of toasted oak, coconut, and ginger. On the palate, it seduces with its delicious sweetness, marked by hints of vanilla pod, peach, and lime juice. The finish is long and deep, with hints of peat, wood, and spices, bringing subtle complexity and remarkable length.
With its perfect balance of fruitiness, toastiness, and peatiness, this 21-year-old Loch Lomond is an exceptional single malt, ideal for connoisseurs seeking depth and refinement. A tasting experience that combines power and elegance, to be enjoyed without moderation.
