In the glass, the whiskey displays a deep, golden amber color with coppery highlights, hinting at exceptional maturity and aromatic richness. On the nose, the first impression is smoky and marine, with a powerful yet refined peatiness, evoking sea-spray-swept cliffs and salty wood fires. Tropical fruit notes quickly emerge, bringing a captivating sweetness. In the background, hints of plants, menthol, pepper, mango, guava, and coconut add a delicious complexity. On the palate, the attack is creamy and velvety, with a silky texture that envelops the palate. Aromas of smoked and maple-dried bacon, charcoal, white pepper, and cloves appear. Dried fruit and a hint of candied lemon bring a tangy freshness, perfectly balancing the smoky depth. The well-integrated oak offers an elegant structure and remarkable length. Long, persistent, and hypnotic, the finish is a crescendo of flavors. The peat reasserts itself, more earthy and mineral, evoking hot stones and dried seaweed. Notes of roasted coffee, licorice, and blond tobacco mingle, while a soft, enveloping smoke prolongs the experience, leaving an impression of warmth and sophistication.
Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old – Batch 5 is a masterpiece of balance: it combines Ardbeg's signature peaty power with an elegance and complexity worthy of a carefully aged whisky.
