It was in Jarnac, the second most important town in the Cognac region, that the Maison de Cognac Tiffon was founded by Médéric Tiffon in 1875, shortly before the Phylloxera crisis. Read more

Thirty-eight years later, the granddaughter of Médéric Tiffon, the founder, married Sverre Braastad, a Norwegian who had come to work as a sales manager in a competing Cognac trading house where her uncle was working as CFO.

It was Sverre Brasstad who gave his name to this House by attaching it to the founder's name. Today, the House is run by a third generation, a direct descendant of Sverre Braastad.
