Château Guiraud

The history dates back to the 18th century, when Pierre Guiraud, a merchant and vineyard owner, acquired the property in 1766. Since then, Domaine has seen a series of passionate owners, but it is under the leadership of the Narby family, who acquired it in 2006, that Château Guiraud has cemented its reputation as a producer of great sweet wines.

The Narby family has continued the tradition of respect for terroir and innovation, introducing sustainable viticultural practices and adopting modern winemaking methods. Domaine is certified organic and biodynamic, underlining their commitment to preserving the environment and producing superior wines.

Situated on the Sauternes plateau, the Guiraud vineyard benefits from a soil composed of clay, limestone and gravel, which favors the development of botrytis cinerea, the noble fungus needed to produce sweet wines. The vines also benefit from ideal sun exposure and proximity to the River Ciron, creating optimal conditions for the formation of noble rot.

Harvesting methods are meticulous. Harvesting is carried out in successive selections, allowing us to select the grapes most affected by noble rot, guaranteeing maximum concentration of sweet flavors and complex aromas in the final wines. This process is labor-intensive and requires perfect timing to ensure that each bunch is harvested at peak ripeness.

The grapes are gently pressed, and the must is fermented in oak barrels, where the wine continues to age. This approach gives the wines of Guiraud a richness, depth and complexity that sets them apart.

The wines of Château are renowned for their delicate balance between sugar, acidity and aromatic richness. Aromas of honey, apricot, eXOtic fruits and spices are characteristic of these sweet wines, which are outstanding representatives of the Sauternes appellation.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
