Guy Charlemagne

The Champagne Guy Charlemagne embodies the excellence and heritage of a family dedicated to creating exceptional Champagnes.

Founded by Guy Charlemagne himself, this house of Champagne is located in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of Côte des blancs, one of the most renowned wine-growing regions of Champagne.

The history of the Charlemagne family goes back several generations, when Guy Charlemagne decided to continue the family tradition of winemaking. Driven by his passion for vines and wine, he created his own Champagne house in 1892 and laid the foundations for a line of winemakers dedicated to excellence.

The Côte des blancs terroir is at the heart of the Champagnes Guy Charlemagne identity. The vineyards cover almost 18 hectares, mainly located in villages classified as Grand Cru appellation, including Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger and Cramant. The chalky terroir of Côte des blancs is particularly well-suited to the cultivation of the Chardonnay grape variety, enabling the production of Champagnes of great elegance and characteristic freshness.

The Charlemagne family attaches great importance to integrated viticulture and the preservation of the environment. The vines are worked with care, favoring nature-friendly practices and minimizing the use of chemicals.... See more ...

Description Guy Charlemagne B.C. Origine Blanc de Blancs 2002 Magnum.

It is a blanc de blancs mono cru champagne coming exclusively from Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the greatest classified growths of the champagne region and it is a vintage harvested exclusively in 2002.

Very rare exception in the world of Champagne : it is a Grand Cru classified at the top in the qualitative hierarchy of champagnes coming exclusively from a single cru and a single year, a Diamond A in the world of almost precious stones. Not found and what is more, it is a single-grape variety of Chardonnay exclusively.

The champagne is first pressed when it arrives at the press and the wine is aged in small 225 liter French oak barrels, an optimal champagne capacity for perfect maturation before bottling with stapled corks following a very old process to achieve an extraordinary qualitative climax.

The color is shiny gold.

Both the nose and the palate reveal very high-end citrus scents such as lemon from Menton, clementine from Corsica on touches of kumquat and a slightly vanilla finish and an ideal finely chopped hint of woody and pepper spices gray or white and toasted almond.

A very large to taste around 10-12 C with smoked salmon caviar, monkfish, blue lobsters from Brittany, lobsters from the Irish Sea, grilled sea bass or turbot with cream de Normandie grilled scallops or on a bed of leeks flavored with Noilly and black Périgord Noir truffles. The ultimate in apricot tarts from Crete, wild strawberries or Marat, lemon sorbets, Norwegian ice cream with exotic flavors.

The bottles should be stored lying down in a dark cellar with an optimum humidity level of around 70% and tasting over time in order to measure its qualitative development and not to let its peak pass.
