Château Belair Monange

The Château Belair Monange is a prestigious Domaine vineyard located in the Saint-Émilion region, in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards. Famous for the exceptional quality of its wines, Château is closely linked to the history of the Moueix family and embodies the very essence of winemaking excellence.

The history of Château Belair Monange dates back more than a century, when the Moueix family, originally from Corrèze in France, began to take an interest in the world of wine. It was Jean-Pierre Moueix who laid the foundations of the family business in 1937, with the acquisition of Château Fonroque to Saint-Émilion. This acquisition marked the beginning of the family's expansion into the Bordeaux wine region.

However, it was with the takeover of Château Belair in 2008 that the Moueix family truly marked the history of this exceptional property. Having already proven themselves in the management of other great Domaines from Saint-Émilion, the Moueix family set out to restore the grandeur of Château Belair Monange, while preserving its heritage and exceptional quality.

The terroir of Château Belair Monange plays a fundamental role in the quality of its wines. The vines of Domaine are planted on clay-limestone soils characteristic of the Saint-Émilion region. These soils allow the vines to draw nutrients and benefit from optimal drainage, which favors the development of high-quality grapes. What's more, the region's temperate climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, contributes to a slow and steady ripening of the grapes, allowing them to reach perfect phenolic and aromatic maturity.

The Château Belair Monange vineyard covers almost 13 hectares and is planted mainly with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. These grape varieties, particularly suited to the Saint-Émilion terroir, bring distinctive characteristics to the Château wines. Merlot lends roundness and silky texture, while Cabernet Franc adds elegance and aromatic complexity.

Winemaking at Château Belair Monange combines tradition and innovation. Harvesting is carried out by hand to guarantee a precise selection of the ripest, healthiest grapes. Vinification takes place in wooden and stainless steel vats, allowing precise control of fermentation. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, where the wines acquire structure, complexity and subtle aromas.

The wines of Château Belair Monange are renowned for their elegance, finesse and ability to express the unique character of the Saint-Émilion terroir. They are distinguished by their perfect balance between powerful tannins and fresh fruit. Their aging potential is also remarkable, allowing them to develop and blossom over the years.
