Château du Tertre
In the 12th century, traces of this Château can already be found in the Archives of the Arsac seigneury, owned by the de Montaigne family, the famous French writer and Mayor of Bordeaux in the 16th century.
It borders Châteaux Cantenac-Brown and Brane-Cantenac to the north and Château Giscours to the east. It is situated on one of the Médoc's highest gravelly hilltops, from which it takes its name. Its vineyard is remarkable for two reasons: it's in one piece and it faces due south.
It's a fifth Grand Cru Classé following the prestigious 1855 list.
Varietal composition: Cabernet Sauvignon: 45, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 20% and 5% Petit Verdot.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and annual production is in the order of 255 barrels, or around 300,000 bottles.
50% of the wine is aged in new barrels for an average of 18 months, depending on the typicity of the harvest.

Description Château du Tertre 2023.
"A sumptuous garnet red with brilliant highlights, Château Du Tertre 2023 offers a complex bouquet of gourmet scents. Blackberry, plum and hints of plum jam can be detected. A slight woodiness adds depth to the Second plan. The palate is more restrained but just as pleasant. The attack is frank and the body well-balanced. The tannins are precise and finely chiselled, accompanying aromas of black fruit. The finish, with its mellow woodiness, leaves a superb imprint on the palate for long Secondes." - Marie, Oenologist Premium Grands Crus - April 2024

Château Du Tertre is characterized by a beautiful alliance between ripe fruit concentration and a taut structure. In this blend, the generous, fleshy Merlot (15%) accompanies the power, freshness and precision of the Cabernet-Sauvignon (70%). True to the estate's style, the 11% Cabernet-Franc from a parcel over 60 years old completes the blend with elegance and finesse. Finally, Petit-Verdot (4%) adds structure and color to the final touch, resulting in a well-balanced wine.
