The Larmandier and Bernier Families have been involved in the Champagne vineyards since the French Revolution. As early as the 18th century, the Larmandiers moreover participated in the rise of Côte des blancs with the fame of their Cramant Blanc de blancs Nature. Definitely founded in 1971 by Philippe Larmandier and his wife Elisabeth Bernier, the House Larmandier-Bernier is now run by their son, Pierre, who is dedicated to offering the purest expression of this great terroir by relying on natural viticulture.
Since their establishment in Champagne, passion and know-how have always been passed down from generation to generation within the two families Larmandier and Bernier. From the 20th century, Jules Larmandier elaborates Champagnes with remarkable gustative qualities, and it is very quickly that many great Parisian tables are interested in it. The Champagnes Larmandier are thus very quickly served at the Tour d'Argent, Taillevant or even Charlot roi des coquillages.
The House will take the name of Larmandier-Bernier in 1971 following the marriage of Philippe Larmandier, grandson of Jules, with Elisabeth Bernier, owner of vineyards in Vertus. In 1988, their son Pierre decided to join the family business in order to practice this profession that is so dear to his heart. Accompanied by his wife Sophie, the couple never ceases to improve the quality of their cultivation practices, having converted their vineyard to biodynamic farming in 1999. In this logic, only indigenous yeasts are used in the vinification process. Ahead of its time, the House Larmandier-Bernier has always produced exceptional wines, with precision and patience. Their son Arthur joined them in 2017.
The House Larmandier-Bernier watches over a vineyard of nearly 18 hectares spread over the most beautiful terroirs of the Côte des blancs: the communes of Vertus classified as Premier Cru and those of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize, classified as Grands Crus. The soils are composed of chalk, the true keystone of these terroirs, and the grape varieties include 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir.
Pierre and Sophie cultivate their vines biodynamically, trusting nature, in an environmentally friendly manner and without any chemicals.
The House's Champagnes are complex, fine and finely chiseled in their purity.
Longitude Cuvée Premier Cru is a Champagne Extra-Brut composed of 100% Chardonnay. Fleshy, lively and beautifully fresh, it offers sumptuous notes of fruit Secs and citrus as well as white flowers, ideal for reviving the taste buds as an aperitif.
Terres de Vertus Premier Cru Millésimé 2016 is a Champagne of great purity, complex and creamy texture. In particular, it offers an iodine finish, making it a good match for seafood dishes.
It's hard not to succumb to their Blanc de noirs 2015 Grand Cru, which is particularly vinous, on the fruit and has superb freshness. Aged in barrels and tuns on the lees for several months, this is a rich Champagne, ideal for white meats or fish in sauce.
It is an Extra-Brut Champagne of assembly coming exclusively from the Côte des Blancs of the Premiers crus: Vertus, Oger, Avize, Cramant and composed exclusively of type of vine Chardonnay.
The House of Larmandier-Bernier named it Longitude, a nod to the longitudinal line of the 4th meridian virtually passing through these villages.
