Henri Giraud

Champagne Henri Giraud, a Maison directed by Claude Giraud from an old family settled in Aÿ for several generations on a vineyard located mainly on the mountain of Aÿ.

Aÿ, a prestigious name that has always been part of the history of this wine-growing region, whose wines have been ranked among the world's finest for at least ten centuries. The kings of France have always been keen to own a plot of vines in Aÿ. Henri IV, King of France, even called himself "Sieur d'Aÿ". Until 1887, wines from the Champagne region were known as "vins d'Aÿ", and it was only then that these wines definitively acquired the name "Champagnes".

Today, 323 crus of Champagne have the right to produce Champagne, but only 17 are legally classified as "Grands Crus". Aÿ, classified as Grand Cru, is the geographical, qualitative and historical heart of Champagne.

The vines of this mythical terroir plunge their roots into the intimacy of the deep veins of its limestone to draw its Extraordinary expressions that are so mineral and flowery.

House Henri Giraud produces several qualities of Champagne but Premium Grands Crus has retained only a few, true to its charter.

Description Henri Giraud Esprit Nature.

Remarkable blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, all of which come exclusively from Grand Cru and Premier Cru terroirs.

The wine is then elaborated with 50% of wines of the year and 50% of perpetual reserve wines. The aging of the wines lasts a minimum of 2 years on lees in French oak barrels.

The dress is bright gold
In the mouth as in the nose: very nice dominant hint of red berries such as raspberry or wild strawberry, harmoniously mixed with hints of citrus fruits such as Menton lemon, Corsican clementine or lychee.
Very nice touch of red fruit and bergamot flavors with a woody vanilla finish.
To be enjoyed around 12°C as an aperitif with duck or goose foie gras, salmon makis or caviar blinis. It will also go very well with sea fish grilled a la plancha or even better with Marennes or Belon oysters.
Perfect with sea fish in a champagne sauce or white meats with oyster mushrooms or chanterelles.
To be kept in a cellar at 14 to 16°C, bottle lying down, protected from light and vibrations with an optimal hygrometry of 70 %.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
