Guy Charlemagne

The Champagne Guy Charlemagne embodies the excellence and heritage of a family dedicated to creating exceptional Champagnes. Founded by Guy Charlemagne himself, this house of Champagne is located in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of Côte des blancs, one of the most renowned wine-producing regions of Champagne.

The Charlemagne family history goes back several generations, when Guy Charlemagne decided to continue the family tradition of winemaking. Driven by his passion for vines and wine, he created his own Champagne house in 1892 and laid the foundations for a line of winemakers dedicated to excellence.

The Côte des blancs terroir is at the heart of the Champagnes Guy Charlemagne identity. The vineyards cover almost 18 hectares, mainly located in villages classified as Grand Cru appellation, including Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger and Cramant. The chalky terroir of Côte des blancs is particularly well-suited to the cultivation of the Chardonnay grape variety, enabling the production of Champagnes of great elegance and characteristic freshness.

The Charlemagne family attaches great importance to integrated viticulture and the preservation of the environment. The vines are worked with care, favoring nature-friendly practices and minimizing the use of chemicals. Soil health and biodiversity are at the heart of their approach, guaranteeing the exceptional quality of the grapes.

The harvests at Guy Charlemagne are carried out by hand, allowing careful selection of the ripest and healthiest bunches. This attention to detail ensures that only the highest quality grapes are used to make the cuvées.

Winemaking at Guy Charlemagne is the result of a combination of tradition and innovation. The grapes are gently pressed, and the juices are vinified in stainless steel vats to pRéserver purity of aroma and freshness of fruit. Some of the wines undergo malolactic fermentation to bring creamy texture and additional complexity to the cuvées.

The Champagnes Guy Charlemagne are aged in stainless steel vats and oak barrels, creating aromatic richness and silky texture. Cuvées age on lees for varying periods, giving them characteristic depth and elegance.

The Champagnes Guy Charlemagne are distinguished by their finesse, freshness and aromatic purity. They offer a complex aromatic palette, ranging from white fruit to mineral notes, with nuances of white flowers and brioche. On the palate, Champagnes are balanced, with a delicate effervescence and a long finish, testifying to their superior quality.

The house of Champagne Guy Charlemagne offers a varied range of cuvées, from non Champagnes Millésimés to prestige cuvées. Each cuvée expresses the unique character of its terroir of origin, reflecting the richness and diversity of the Côte des blancs terroir.
