Godet

Godet is a Maison de Commerce de Cognac founded in 1782, but earlier archives allow us to go back as far as 1550, when Bonnaventure Godet from the Netherlands set up a wine business on the Quai de La Rochelle.

Later, Jean Godet, ennobled by King Louis XIV of France, was Mayor for life of Fontenais.

In 1782, in the 7th generation, Maison Godet was entered in the Trade Register as a trader in Cognac, a key act authenticating this house.

Today, Maison Godet is run by the fifteenth generation, still based in La Rochelle.

Description Godet Millésime 1983.

The Godet Millésime offers a unique Rare vision of the Cognac. Aged in Dame-Jeanne, it is bottled exclusively on request in a personalized, hand-calligraphed bottle. An authentic expression of a specific vintage and terroir, a fragment of history to be savored.

This exceptional eau-de-vie is a magnificent reflection of 1983, an exceptional year for Cognac, a vintage of near-perfect grapes: rich, ripe, with perfect balance.

Beneath its old gold color with slightly amber highlights reveals a rich, powerful nose, with aromas of white flowers and hawthorn. We perceive beautiful notes of wax, honey and eXOtic wood essences.

The palate is fat and unctuous, splendidly balanced with very well-melted alcohol. Notes of gingerbread, cinnamon and nutmeg fill the palate. The finish, somewhere between land and sea, is spicy and woody, before taking on a hint of freshness with saline notes. A gem Rare, all the art of distillation in a single decanter.
