Laurent-Perrier

What connoisseur of Champagnes doesn't know Maison Laurent-Perrier, whose sumptuous cuvées possess an almost refreshing taste of history? A veritable benchmark within the circle of great Champagne houses, Maison Laurent-Perrier has always demonstrated an innovative spirit, displaying a very distinctive style of finesse and elegance for two centuries now.

What is the history of Maison Laurent-Perrier?

It was towards the end of the First Empire, in 1812, that André-Michel Pierlot, a former cooper and bottler from Chigny-les-Roses, settled in Tours-sur-Marne as a wine merchant for Champagne. Tours-sur-Marne is a picturesque village located at the crossroads of the Marne's three main wine-growing regions: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des blancs, and is one of only 17 communes to be classified as Grand Cru. In particular, he acquired two plots of land, "Les Plaisances" and "La Tour Glorieux", on which he built his own house.

His son Alphonse succeeded him, but as the latter had no children, it was his cellar master Eugène Laurent who became the owner in 1881. It was he who endowed this small business of Champagne with several annexes in Tours-sur-Marne and pieces of vines in the region's best crus: Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Ambonnay, all classified as Grand Cru. He also had 800 meters of cellars dug to preserve the wines in optimal conditions, a constant that still characterizes the house today.

Following Eugène Laurent's death in 1887, it was his wife Mathilde Perrier who ensured the... See more ...

Description Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Alexandra Rosé 2012.

Known and recognized for its expertise in creating Champagnes Rosés, Maison Laurent-Perrier wanted to raise its standards and add a Champagne Rosé Millésimé to its existing range. This ambition came to fruition with the 2012 Cuvée Alexandra Rosé, a sought-after Rare expression of Laurent-Perrier's terroirs and expertise.

After a challenging year marked by winter and spring frosts, hail and cryptogamic diseases, this cuvée is a testament to the resilience of the vineyards of the famous House of Champagne. Despite the challenges, the sunny summer of Sec favored exceptional ripening of the grapes, which were in perfect health at harvest time.

A blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, selected from the Grands Crus of Montagne de Reims and Côte des blancs, this Champagne presents elegance, depth and finesse.

Ten years of ageing have enabled it to develop an aromatic complexity and structure on the palate of a sophistication exceptional enough to be highlighted.

On tasting, Cuvée Alexandra is adorned with a deep blood orange color and features numerous fine, persistent bubbles.

On the nose, it reveals an impressive olfactory complexity, dominated by notes of crushed strawberries. The palate, in keeping with this first impression, is marked by richness and enveloping warmth. As the finish approaches, the red fruit aromas give way to lovely notes of bitter orange.

To accompany this exceptional Champagne, three-starred chef Christian Le Squer recommends an epigram of lamb served with fine vegetable ravioli with spicy green jus.
