What grape varieties does Pol Roger use?

Pol Roger mainly uses three grape varieties emblematic of Champagne: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Pinot Noir provides structure and power, Pinot Meunier offers roundness and fruitiness, while Chardonnay confers elegance and finesse. The house is particularly renowned for its well-balanced blends that bring out the best in each grape variety.

What is the winemaking process like at Pol Roger?

Winemaking at Pol Roger is marked by a respect for tradition and a constant quest for quality. The grapes are gently pressed to Extra extract the purest juice. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by partial or total malolactic fermentation, depending on the cuvée. The wine is then bottled with a liqueur de tirage for the prise de mousse, before aging on laths for several years.

What are the particularities of ageing Pol Roger wines?

Pol Roger wines benefit from prolonged ageing on laths, well beyond legal requirements. This allows the aromas to develop fully and the bubbles to become finer. The house also uses manual riddling for certain cuvées, an ancestral technique that involves turning the bottles to bring the lees down to the neck before disgorging.

What are Pol Roger's emblematic cuvées?

Emblematic cuvées include Brut Réserve, a harmonious blend of the three Champagne grape varieties, and Brut Vintage, which reflects the expression of an exceptional year. The Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, created in tribute to the illustrious statesman, is a dominant Pinot Noir, powerful and complex. Finally, Blanc de blancs, made from Chardonnay, seduces with its freshness and elegance.

What is Pol Roger's winemaking philosophy?

Pol Roger favors sustainable viticulture that respects the environment. The company works closely with its partner winemakers to guarantee high-quality grapes. Cultivation practices aim to pRéserver biodiversity and minimize environmental impact, while ensuring sustainable production.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
