Château Larcis Ducasse
Le Château Larcis Ducasse embodies the delicacy of Saint-Emilion's finest nectars. In existence since the 17th century, it has belonged to the Gratiot-Attmane family since 1893. They entrusted its management in 2002 to the duo Nicols Thienpont and David Suire, advised by oenologists Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu.
Together, they succeed in extracting the quintessence of a terroir with exceptional potential, by reconciling field study, traditional methods and technical innovation.
The Château Larcis Ducasse was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé in 2012, during the 6th Saint-Emilion classification.
The Château Larcis Ducasse is planted on 12 hectares of vines on three distinct terroirs: a clay-limestone plateau, colluvial clay-limestone soils on the hillside, and clay-limestone terraces with predominantly south-facing exposure. The grape varieties are 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet franc. The wines are aged for 16 to 18 months in 225- to 500-liter French oak barrels, 70% of which are new.
The estate produces a Second wine, Murmure de Larcis Ducasse.
The Château Larcis Ducasse delivers seductive, complex and velvety wines. The quality of its great terroir lends them a singular breed.

Description Château Larcis Ducasse 2014.
The 2014 vintage was a very successful wine year in Bordeaux, especially on the right bank. It was first marked by a hot and dry spring, followed by a rather cool summer. But from the end of August, the good weather returned to the vineyard, allowing the vines to be in full swing. The different grape varieties will finish their maturation under exceptional weather conditions, especially in October.
Blend of the 2014 vintage : 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet franc
The robe is a very intense red color, with beautiful tile-like nuances.
The nose expresses a very nice freshness, with intense notes of ripe black fruits, blackcurrant and blueberry, menthol, cedar and cardamom.
The attack is frank, the wine evolves on a voluminous and juicy texture, with delicious flavors of black cherry and peppery spices. The tannins are finely built, and carry it through to the finish, which is long and particularly aromatic.
Food and wine pairing:
Château Larcis Ducasse 2014 will accompany meat dishes such as a leg of wild boar confit, duck breast Rossini, roast beef stuffed with foie gras and trumpets of death, or entrecote à la bordelaise.
For a pairing with cheese, choose uncooked pressed cheeses, such as morbier with truffles, Saint-Nectaire, cantal and matured mimolette.
For desserts, it will be particularly appreciated on a pear-chocolate bavarois, a crispy chocolate dessert or coffee macaroons.
Cellaring potential and tasting:
Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2014 can still wait in the cellar, and will reach its peak between 2029 and 2032.
However, it lends itself very well to tasting today. To do so, take to open the bottle at room temperature and decant it 4 to 5 hours before tasting.
The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from the light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
