The House of Cognac Baron Otard is an icon of the spirits world, renowned for its craftsmanship and exceptional Cognacs. Founded in the 18th century, this house of Cognac boasts a rich history and unique terroir that give its products an unrivalled identity.

The history of the Baron Otard family dates back to François I, King of France in the 16th century. Jean-Baptiste Antoine Otard, a member of the nobility and staunch defender of the king, decided to flee the French Revolution in 1785 and went into exile in England. Fascinated by Cognac, he decided to set up his own trading house and became a tireless ambassador for spirits. A few years later, in 1795, he returned to France and chose Cognac as the cradle of his house, where he set up shop in Château de Cognac, an imposing medieval fortress on the banks of the Charente.

Over the generations, the Baron Otard family has passed on its unique expertise and love of Cognac, consolidating the family heritage at the heart of this prestigious house. Family members have managed to maintain ancestral traditions while adopting innovative methods to produce Cognacs of exceptional quality.

Description Baron Otard Fortis & Fidélis.

This Cognac is a remarkable blend of very old eaux de vie, aged, for many years, under the centuries-old vaults of the Château Royal de Cognac. These Cognacs all come from the Grande Champagne terroir classified Premier Cru de Cognac.

This Cognac is a tribute to the founder of Maison Otard, a House founded in 1795 and which has been home to Cognacs of exceptional quality ever since. It was from these Cognacs that this blend was created and named "Fortis & Fidelis", the founder's motto and repeated and engraved on the crystal decanter.

The color is Cuban mahogany.

On the nose as well as on the palate : a broad palette of fragrances and flavors such as white spring flower fragrances, hawthorn, osmanthus, cherry, linden or chamomile, followed by hints of walnut, leather, cinnamon, blond tobacco, musk, ending with slightly chocolate or mocha expressions. A Rare diversity with a perfect harmony due to the mastery of the cellar master.

Dining pairing/Cognac : with friends at any time of the day or night, in a tulip glass, a shape perfectly adapted to capture the different and numerous olfactory layers throughout the tasting. It goes very well with chocolate fondant, chocolate éclairs, opera on a praline base.

It is necessary to keep the bottles upright, away from light and noise. After several years, check the condition of the corks, which may be slightly affected by ageing, and replace them.
