La Maison De Sousa is located in the commune of Avize in the heart of the prestigious Côte des blancs. It was founded by Antoine De Sousa in the 1950s through marriage to a daughter from a winegrowing family.
Today, Erick De Sousa is one of the region's most talented winemakers, favoring a sustainable approach to his vineyards in order to produce authentic Champagnes of great purity.
In the aftermath of the First World War, Manuel De Sousa, originally from the province of Braga and part of the Portuguese contingent sent to the front, decided to settle in Champagne at Avize with his wife. His son Antoine married Zoémie Bonville, from a long-established family of winegrowers in the region. A success story that has never ceased to endure. Their son Erick took over in 1986, demonstrating exceptional talent in raising the vineyard to a new level of excellence Rare. Today, he is gradually passing on his heritage and passion to his three children: Charlotte, Julie and Valentin, who will continue to write the pages of history.

This family-owned winery in Avize, right in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, was started in 1982 by Emanuel De Sousa. It's all about a bold philosophy that mixes respect for nature with the pure expression of the terroir. A pioneer in organic and biodynamic winemaking, De Sousa & Fils is now run by Charlotte and Valentin De Sousa, who keep up this quest for authenticity.
The wine has a lovely straw color in the glass. The reflections are intense and brilliant, and the effervescence is fine. The nose reveals a rich and complex bouquet with notes of lemon zest, exotic fruits such as pineapple and mango, and a subtle hint of red berries. There are also buttery notes due to barrel ageing. On the palate, the attack is supple and rich. The balance between the freshness and minerality of Chardonnay and the vinosity and roundness of Pinot Noir is perfect. The notes on the nose are also expressed on the palate and linger on the finish. The finish, marked by fruity notes, also has a subtle bitterness that structures the tasting experience.
