Domaines Ott

Domaines Ott

It was Marcel OTT, an agricultural engineer, who in 1896 acquired the Domaines, which he named OTT's Domaines. With resolute passion, he set about replanting with noble grape varieties to revive these great Provence wines worthy of an age-old tradition.

Each Domaine Ott is cultivated with full respect for nature. Care is given to the land without chemical treatment or intensive production.

Vines that are too old are replaced to offer consistent quality to the wines of both Domaines.

Over the years, each of them has been patiently reshaped to create the best growing conditions, in espaliers and terraces. This regularity allows for natural drainage without runoff to pRéserver the soil and its character. Organic fertilizers are used naturally, and the vines are trained on wires.

The juices are fermented in vats, then matured in oak barrels. Today, Domaines are among the most famous, most demanding and best preserved of Provence.

Description Domaines Ott - Château de Selle 2023.

The Domaines Ott are 3 properties in two appellations. Château de Selle and Clos Mireille in Côtes de Provence and Château Romassan in Bandol. Château de Selle is the very first of the Domaines to enter the OTT family fold. Its 140 hectares are located in TaranDeau, near Draguignan; only 61 of them are given over to vines, planted in restanques and terraces on high limestone hills inland, protected from frost, benefiting from a microclimate - mild winter, early spring, hot summer - and generous sunshine.

The wines Rosés are racy and elegant, made from Grenache for depth, Cinsault for finesse, Syrah and Mourvèdre for fruit and spice. La robe is pale pink with golden highlights. The nose reveals scents of citrus, white flowers and violets, enveloped by spices and vanilla. The attack on the palate is frank yet subtle and elegant, with yellow peach, clementine zest and a hint of lemon. The finish offers a fine balance between richness and salinity.

This Côtes de Provence Rosé Château de Selle 2023 will be perfect with grilled prawns in citrus sauce.
